Diagnosis is made by looking at the amount of leak indicated on the cylinder leak gauge and by listening for leaks at various points in the car's system. It is designed to detect a variety of common engine faults such as worn piston rings, worn valves, cracked cylinder heads and blown cylinder head gaskets.
